Catemaco's Monkey Island

Our hotel last night was on a deserted beach. I never saw anyone else as far as the eye could see. Cool breeze, warm water.
I had a long talk in Spanish with the Aunt of these girls who served us lunch today. The one on the right just started law school, the one on the left just had a baby

====================================================

We're in Catemaco tonight. There is a large lake and 50 guys with little boats hoping to take you to Isla de Monos (Monkey Island). Supposedly monkeys that were used in experiments years gone by were let go here when the research ended, then the monkeys mated and thrived on Monkey Island. I'm too jaded to believe that. I think the local fishermen bought a bunch of monkeys two decades ago to create a perpetual tourist attraction. It worked. That gives me an idea. Maybe I can hook-up with the Snake Oil salesman I met last week in San Miguell de Allende an we can grind up some old deer antlers and sell it on the Internet as Dr. Kimble's Unicorn Horn Aphrodisiac - Limited Supply, Act Now. Buy two, get one free!
