Friendly people
As this is my last night in Mexico, on this trip, I thought I'd summarize my impressions.
It is a vast country rimmed with tourist destinations. The interior of the country is far more rewarding.
I've ridden a motorcycle through the center of the country over a two week period and met no narco-terrorists. A Spanish paper here quoted a government report that said that since 2006 there have been 14,000 deaths due to drug violence, most of which was one small-time drug thug bumping off their competition.
Every Mexican I met was friendly and helpful. I lost track of the number of people who stopped when they saw us looking at a map. They always pointed the way.
Mexicans get a bad rap in the US as being lazy. When I worked for several years in Texas our Mexican laborers were the best workers. Here in Mexico everyone works hard.
The beauty of the country really surprised me. It has a great deal to offer.
