Two day delay in postings

We found out this afternoon that we're going off road up some dangerous mountain pass for two days. We'll have no Internet. This could be a great opportunity for those who have yet to donate to click on the MS link and support MS research. THANKS. We'll be back the day after tomorrow.

Thanks for the wonderful posts. Have enjoyed sharing your trip and look forward to the next turn in the road.

I do wonder how your bike is doing and hope you can share your opinion of the pros and cons of the GS's and the V'Strom? As you make this journey I am actively looking at both bikes for what would be a year or so of off-and-on traveling. It is this hunt for information that brought me to your site.

Thanks,
Douglas

Douglas,
I take a great deal of ribbing as I'm the only one of our group on a Suzuki. The big expensive GS' have a lower center of gravity and a higher ground clearance than my V-Strom. However, I wouldn't trade with any of them. Their technology is last century, they are overly heavy, the drive shaft seals leak and they cost over twice what the Suzuki cost. My V-Strom gets much better gas milage and uses regular rather than Super gas. I've been down ridiculous canyon dit roads, and over unpaved Andes passes. There is never a problem of keeping up. BMW dealers are rare in Latin America and very expensive. Suzuki dealers are everywhere. My bias is for Suzuki. If you are two-up and carrying luggage you may need the 1000. These BMW's are so industrial if you painted them green they'd be mistaken for John Deere tractors
